Best tour of the year!

Guns N’ Roses made it brothers and sisters.

Their tour has been named:  TOUR OF THE YEAR!

Congrats to all the biys in the bands!  Congrats to all the crew techs, all the people involved from near to far.  Thanks to the management team, and most and foremost, thanks to all the fans around the world to keep this band alive and rocking after 25 years!

Guns N’ Roses have been named the 2011 Tour of the Year winner in the first annual Ultimate Classic Rock Awards. Axl Rose and company beat out Rush and Motley Crue in one of the most highly contested of our ten categories.

Almost one-third (32%, specifically) of the voters chose GNR’s three-hour marathon concerts over Motley Crue’s drum rollercoaster-filled smmer trek (24%) and Rush’s ‘Time Machine’ tour (22%), with Journey, Alice Cooper and Kiss rounding out the field.

We were lucky enough to catch a show on Guns N’ Roses tour a few weeks back, and if we haven’t taken the time to file a report about how awesome it was yet, well, there’s two good reasons. It’s partially because the holiday rush overtook us but mostly because, to paraphrase Cartman, the show “warped our fragile little minds.”

Rose, Dizzy Reed and the rest of the Gunners treated the crowd to an energetic (and nearly exhaustive) tour through the band’s entire history, hitting all the “gotta be there” moments while still keeping things lively and not canned. ‘Chinese Democracy’ songs like ‘Sorry’ proved they belong in the band’s impressive canon, and GNR proved they still have great taste in covers by busting out some old AC/DC tunes.

All told, over 230,000 people voted in the 2011 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards. You can see the final results for the Tour of the Year voting below, and then click to find out who won in the other nine categories.

December 27th, 2011 Phoenix, AZ @ Comerica Theatre

After the AMAZING show in the city of Angels, and an amazing Christmas (on my part anyways), the Gunners are back on the road in Phoenix, Arizona.  The last show of the tour before the two dates in Las Vegas , Nevada!  Hope you guys have fun!

Phoenix  is the capital, and largest city, of the U.S. state of Arizona, as well as the sixthmost populated city in the United States. Phoenix is home to 1,445,632 people according to the official 2010 U.S. Census Bureau data. It is the anchor of the Phoenix metropolitan area (also known as the Valley of the Sun), and is the 14th largest metro area by population in the United States with about 4.2 million people in 2010. In addition, Phoenix is the county seat of Maricopa County, and is one of the largest cities in the United States by land area. Phoenix is the largest capital city in the United States and the only state capital with over 1,000,000 people.

Phoenix was incorporated as a city in 1881, after being founded in 1861 near the Salt River, close to the confluence with the Gila River. The city has a notable and famous political culture and has been home to numerous influential American politicians and other dignitaries, including Barry GoldwaterWilliam RehnquistJohn McCainCarl Hayden, and Sandra Day O’Connor. Residents of the city are known as Phoenicians.

Located in the northeastern reaches of the Sonoran Desert, Phoenix has a subtropical arid climate. In summer average high temperatures are typically over 100 °F (38 °C) and over 120 °F (49 °C) on occasion.

Comerica Theatre (formerly Dodge Theatre) is an indoor concert hall and arena in Phoenix. The venue seats 5,500 people and hosts many musical artists and shows. The theater’s name was changed in October 2010 after Comerica Bank acquired the naming rights.

It also hosts sporting events such as boxing.

It has also hosted the 2010 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

The theater is probably best recognized as the stage for the comedy movie Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The MovieGeorge Lopez‘s most recent HBO Special, America’s Mexican, was aired live at the theater as well. Rock group Chickenfootrecorded their live album Get Your Buzz On there.
